NIRVANA
Nirvana was an American grunge band from Aberdeen, Washington, United States integrated by vocalist and guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic in 1987. Since its formation, Nirvana went through a series of frequent changes of drummer until 1990 were definitely drummer Dave Grohl joined. Nirvana is now considered as one of the most important and influential bands of the era moderna.
In the late 80s Nirvana was established as part of the Seattle music scene with her debut album Bleach, released under the independent Seattle label, Sub Pop, in 1989.3 The band finally came to develop a sound that was based in dynamic contrasts, often quiet verses and choruses intense. A year later, the band signed with the label DGC Records and in 1991 released his second album Nevermind. The album's first single Smells Like Teen Spirit, climbed the music charts around the world and started the explosion of what until then was known as a punk and alternative rock in the world music scene, in a move that means the time would refer to as grunge. In addition to Nirvana, other bands of the Seattle music scene as Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains and Soundgarden also gained popularity; as a result, alternative rock became a dominant genre on radio and music television during the first half of the decade of the 90.4The band leader, Kurt Cobain himself referred was found in the media as "the voice of a generation" and Nirvana as the "flagship band" of Generation X. 5 Cobain was uncomfortable with the attention He gave them and decided to focus the public attention to the band's music, challenging the audience with their third studio album, in Utero. The album was not successful or expected sales and popularity of Nirvana decreased in the months following the publication of álbum.6 However, much of the audience praised the "dark" inside the band, especially after MTV Unplugged presentation.
